Donald P. Nesselhauf
Donald P. Nesselhauf, 82, Fremont, died Friday, March 12, 2010, unexpectedly at Memorial Hospital in Fremont.
Mr. Nesselhauf was born May 9, 1927 in Sandusky, the son of Carl B. and Gladys (Danalds) Nesselhauf. He married Carolyn Ballreich on June 7, 1952.
Don was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde; the American Legion Post 121 in Fremont; the Clyde Eagles and Teamsters Local 20; also a member of the former IAB Club in Sandusky. For 15 years he was on the bowling league in Fremont. He was an avid Elvis fan; and cheered for the Cleveland Indians and Indianapolis Colts. He enjoyed dancing of all kinds, especially the jitterbug; he liked to do yard work and fish. During World War II, Don proudly served with the United States Marines, being stationed in China. He was an over-the-road truck driver for several different companies for 38 years and earned numerous safe driver awards.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; their eight daughters, Judy (Joseph) Hoffman and Ranae (Michael) Cleveland, all of Clyde, Debra (David) Jay of Findlay, Karen (William S.) Maclean of Pickerington, Donna (Dan) Benfer of Republic, Rebecca (Eric) Rohrbach of Tiffin, Janine Nesselhauf of Clyde and Pamela (Michael) Knaszak of Orchard Park, N.Y.; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Alice Harris of Strongsville, Henry Nesselhauf of Norwalk and Theresa Taegue of Wichita, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Eric Rohrbach; and siblings, Walter, Rolland, Paul and Robert Nesselhauf, Dorothy Nesselhauf, Bernice Wiley and Mildred Friesehgest.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 16, from 2 to 8 p.m., at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St. in Clyde, with Christian Wake services at 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 17, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery, Veteran's Section, with military graveside services provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
