North Coast Concert Band slates event at Old Fort

Favorite tunes for every member of the family fill the program of the annual holiday concert by the North Coast Concert Band and North Coast Big Band.

The concert will be presented Sunday, Dec. 6 at Old Fort High School, 7635 North CR 51, Old Fort. The free concert begins at 3 p.m. The building is handicapped accessible.

Concert Band conductor William Woycitzky has selected marches and medleys for the first half of the concert, including selections from "Beauty and the Beast" and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." The second half of the concert features seasonal music, including a recently discovered composition by Wolfbane Armadillo Mozart title "The Thirteen Days of Christmas." Woycitzky is assisted by associate conductor Will Kish.

The North Coast Big Band, led by Gary Keller, adds a different texture to the concert with tunes arranged for 16-piece dance bands. The Big Band's portion of the concert will include both instrumental and vocal renditions and holiday music.

Other concerts for the season are scheduled for Clyde High School on March 7, 2010 and Norwalk High School on May 2, 2010. All concerts begin at 3 p.m. There is no admission charge.

Information about both bands and their performance schedules is available at www.northcoastconcertband.com.
