Pilot injured in
crop duster crash
VICKERY - An inspector from the Federal Aviation Administration was on the scene of the crash of a cropduster plane on Tuesday morning.
According to Sandusky County Sheriff's web and FAA reports, at 6:14 p.m. Monday, a yellow 55G Cessna flown by Brian B. Gibbs crashed into a barn at 1145 CR 294 in Townsend Township just south of Ohio 412.
The pilot was removed from the crumpled plane and was walking around the site when the sheriff's deputy arrived on the scene. Gibbs taken by Life Squad 15 to the Bellevue Hospital emergency room where he was admitted and was still hospitalized on Tuesday, according to a hospital spokesman.
The Ohio State Patrol, Townsend Fire Department and the Sandusky County Hazmat Team responded to the crash site. The Hazmat team cleared the site of fungicides so that officials could continue the investigation.
The Civil Air Patrol from Lorain County arrived with approximately five to seven men. (See more in the Clyde Enterprise)
