Dozens of cars entered, items stolen in Green Springs
GREEN SPRINGS - Numerous villagers along Broadway and some side streets had their vehicles entered over the weekend and an yet untold amount of property stolen.
“We had 30 to 40 cars broken into over the weekend,” Chief Charlie Horne said Thursday.
“People in Green Springs need to lock their vehicles, and if see anyone out after hours they should give us a call,” he stressed.
Cars and vehicles were entered from Green Springs School to the railroad tracks on the south end of the village along Ohio 19 (Broadway) on Friday and Saturday nights.
Horne said all the vehicles hit were unlocked.
“We could actually follow the footprints in the snow from car to car to car,” the police chief reported.
Among the most expensive items taken from vehicles were GPS electronics.
Horne said he is not sure all the thefts have yet been reported to his department. He has not firm suspects yet.“We need to keep people to keep their cars locked,” he again emphasized. People in the village need to think about security, he added.
“It’s just an adjustment curve for people who are here.”
